United Ramen (CLOSED)

When I thought the ramen trend has come to the end of its season, there have been news of more ramen restaurants coming to London. One that will be opening at the end of this week will be United Ramen in Islington. There will be a soft launch for 50% off food and soft drinks running from Friday 22nd August until Sunday 31st August 2014.

United Ramen

United Ramen takes a more fusion and contemporary approach to ramen. Creating different bowls of ramen to represent different countries (Japanese, China India, USA etc) and giving themselves the name, United Ramen.

There are varieties of side dishes which can be order with the ramen including maki rolls, kimchi cabbage, gyoza, agedashi tofu and Asian BBQ spare ribs.

If you decided that you do not feel it is a ramen day, then I did see on the menu a small selection of rice dishes. Even the kids are cater for at United Ramen, with smaller portion size of ramen.

Once you have finished your ramen, you can stay on for desserts includes homemade wasabi dark chocolate brownies, ice cream and mochi. The mochi comes in a range of flavours (yuzu , mango and chillies, strawberry and cheesecake etc) as well as some being ice cream mochi, depending on the flavour.

There are a varieties of drinks which includes a few United Ramen’s bubble tea as well as Sake and wine. If you are unsure which of the Sake to try then go for the Flight of Sake which start of with the lightest to the strongest sake.

United Ramen is a few minutes walk along Upper Street from Angel station. The restaurant is decorated with bright bold colours that gives it a different feel to the usual traditional ramen restaurants. It has the feel of a fun and contemporary place which is like a colourful Wagamama.

I would not come to United Ramen looking for the traditional Japanese ramen, but here it is about this one ingredient ‘ramen’ that unites different flavours from around the world.

This is not a review of what I think about the food but to introduce what is new to munch in London, since I got the opportunity to go to a pre-opening event to visit United Ramen.
