Old Tree Bakery opened a second branch in Soho, near London Chinatown. For those who are not familiar with Old Tree Bakery, this place is more then just a bakery serving cakes and breads, they also serve Taiwanese food and a range of drinks, including the recent popular bubble tea that is in London.
Their main branch is in Golders Green and my review can be found by clicking on the following link: https://chechemui.wordpress.com/2010/11/21/old-tree-bakery
The menu at their Soho branch is a slim down version of their Golders Green branch. But they have many of their signature dishes served at their new branch.
The dishes at their Soho branch is served slightly differently and the price itself is different, but reasonable. Like the Old Tree Bakery signature dish Taiwanese belly pork rice (扣肉飯), it does not come served with the stewed egg at Soho branch (but you can order it separately). Also the rice is served as one dish instead separately like it is at their main branch.
If you are not fond of the fatty layer in the belly pork then try the Taiwanese minced pork rice (肉燥飯). This has become my recent favourite at Old Tree Bakery. It is an alternative version but with minced meat and Chinese mushroom.
I would have preferred if the dishes was served separately, especially since not everyone like mustard green. Although I like it and find it appetising with the meal.
We also ordered the chicken version which make good snack.
A favourite of mine and I recommend, is Old Tree Bakery Taiwanese sausages.
There are a range of drinks including Bubble Milk tea. But if you are at Old Tree then you could try creme caramel pudding milk tea (布丁奶茶). Instead of the tapioca pearls it comes with a creme caramel pudding.
As the weather is getting cold I opted for a hot Longan Tea (桂圆茶).
What I love about Old Tree Bakery is you can have a meal and dessert in one place. Give me more time to enjoy the accompany of my friends.
The Soho branch is smaller then their Golders Green branch, but I do like the decor at their Soho branch.
