As a friend’s surprise birthday we celebrated it with afternoon tea at Four Seasons in London Park Lane. This is a beautiful hotel with modern decor with it beautiful red sofa. Although modern it still had a grand feel with the beautiful big crystal light.
There are two different set of afternoon tea that can be selected on preference of taste. The La Dolce Vita afternoon tea is a savoury choice which will suit those who are not in to the sweet cakes and tarts. Then the second options is the one we select which is the tradition English Afternoon Tea.
The bottom tier was a selection of sandwiches that included:
- Egg and Watercress in a Brioche Roll
- Smoked Salmon
- Cucumber and Cream Cheese
- Salt Beef on Brown Bread
- Roast Chicken
The second tier is a selection of cakes and tarts including:
- Fruit Tarts
- Lemon Meringue Pie
- Cream Éclair
- Blueberry Cheese Cake
Then the top tier is a range of raisin and plain warm scones. On a separate dish was the jam and clotted cream to go with the scones.
The afternoon tea comes with tea which you can choose from the selection on the menu. I selected the 22ct Gold Tchaba Rose which was described on the menu as “a unique, high-grade white tea infused with 22 carat gold leaves and rose petals”. The 22 carat gold leaves captured me to order, but did not see any obvious 22 carat gold leaves. In terms of taste, this tea was a light and fragrant of rose tea.
On our table was a sand timer on making the perfect tea, depending if you want it to be light, medium or strong. A nice extra but we did not actually used it.
